ZZzoooommm!

My mommy has been busybusy!

Zoom! I follow her from one room!

Zooom! to the next!
wait...

WHAT! who is that?
Hello, I am Oliver, dignified and fluffy

My dignified fluffy belly does NOT hang over the mantel piece. I will look away from you now, sniff...

HEY What about MEEEeee

I am Toby (October, duh)!

I like to eat brains! and purr
No brains here...
And terrify me.

That's true. She will not let him touch the floor. (where the litter box is, most importantly)
(tattle tale)
Even Nathan Fillion cannot make her behave.
Twins!
So this is going to be just my temporary home, until I go back to the shelter, where they will next place me WITHOUT another kitty
numero uno kitty
I am fond of using the litter box...
HALP!!
So Toby will be here, happily munching on unsuspecting noggins
nomnom
Until arrangements are made (no-kill, very responsible and well run shelter, and yes, I feel terribly, but everyone will be in a better place this way)
Brains?
In sillier news, I found Malichai's twin

Hey, Vermont- Still lovely?

Yep.

MORE HOUSE AND KITTY POSTS TO COME!!

July 13, 2010

That was a really really rough weekend.

Flooring came in on Wednesday, Dad finished the living room (BY HIMSELF) Thursday.

We worked on the floors in the two front bedrooms, got them done Saturday.

In progress

Sunday Dad got the back bedroom

and hallway done,

and I finished up in the dining room Sunday night and Monday morning. I took Monday off from work , so I that I could make sure the floors were done and we’d have the day to put in counters and the new sink. Dad had a meeting that morning, so the lovely mom went with me to Home Depot. I can’t drive a stick, so I can’t drive the truck :D We picked up the counters, and sink, and a few other odds and ends, and I spent $500.

OUCHIES. But lovelies. I finished up the floors in the dining room, as in I went until I ran out of wood. I do believe I did not account for a closet or two when I ordered… But I also did not account for cabinets in the kitchen, so there should be enough to get this last little bit when the flooring for the kitchen comes in. That should be Thursday. But I’m still talking about Monday. We started up on the counters, which had to be cut to fit. Also, now my refridgerator is in my dining room.

I figured it’d be easier to take it out now for the counters, and later for when I put the floor in. I think I could have bought a smaller size, but I’d rather have to cut down than buy more.

before for reference

We took the old sink off, and the sink counter.

And got a taste of the old red.

GAH I hate that red.

But the counters went on with relative ease, if a touch uneven in spots.

Dad for reference

That can be fixed. I then measured to cut the hole for the new sink. Very carefully. And still got it wrong. Dad had valiantly cut where I had the line, and it took the big circular saw, and the jigsaw to get the hole done. But along the back, it was too close to the wall to fit anything. So he started using a regular drill to drill holes along the back line. I took over as soon as he let me, and, man. I do not recommend that. But it got the job done. Then we used the handsaw to cut along the dotted line as it were. Then the first dry fit. It was not even close. Well, a little close. Less than an inch, but that’s not insignificant, and stainless steel sinks don’t bend too much. So he had to get the big circular back out again. It’s really noisy, crazy dusty, heavy, and not easy to use. Dad’s a trooper. And in the next dry fit, it was still off. And for the next two it was still. On the third we were able to JAM it in.

Arg.

Then dad started putting the clips in, and the bottom of the cabinet broke! He thudded down, and I went and got some 2x4s to prop the bottom up while he continued to work. He put in half the clips, and I got the last half. I started the cleanup process while he fitted in the faucets. Only to find the hot water pipe didn’t reach far enough to the new drains. The cold water worked, and we declared to be done for the day. We were both exhausted, and at least for me, had been ready to go home an hour previous. But I have beautiful floors, a lovely little kitchen, and a cute little house at the end of my long weekend.

I’m going to spend the next two days packing, not even going to go to the house. Thursday will be (hopefully) floors, and the chimney people start their work!
